Wellington

Dancers in Civic Square

Welly rocks during the NZI Sevens!

There’s so much to do in the home of New Zealand’s biggest party – the NZI Sevens. One of the cool things about Wellington is that everything in the downtown area is within walking distance.  Party at the Westpac Stadium, and then play on just 20 minutes walk away - at the downtown party zones, Courtenay Place and Cuba Street.  Here you’ll find tiny, tucked-away bars, quirky cafes, award-winning restaurants and buzzing nightlife.  Wellington City to Sea Bridge.

If you have some downtime from all the NZI Sevens action, head to Te Papa, New Zealand’s national museum, visit some funky fashion boutiques or enjoy a local music gig.

Wellington is also a playground for adventure activities. It has a stunning harbour that you can get out and explore by kayak. If you’re a mountain-biker you’ll love the mountain biking park at Makara Peak, 10 minutes drive from the city.  Or take your pick from plenty of other activities from the amazing nature experience that is Zealandia through to exploring the South Coast and more.
